Before the shops close here at 6!! I have an 08 yz450f. UPS just delivered my akrapovic slip on, but I think it is for an 06-07 because the slip on diamete is BIGGER than the diameter of the header. Now, If I get an 06-07 header from a shop, it should bolt up to my 08 right??? please someone say yes...BTW, the header the shop has is a powerbomb. anyone run the FMF bomb with a different brand slip?
NEED HELP BEFORE 6!!!

Isn't that the definition of a slip-on. Have the part be larger diameter than the header? That is how my DR. D pipe is. Unless it is much larger??

pretty sure the 08 has the biggest diameter of the three years 06-08. think theres is piece that is in your stock muffler that will come out and fill the space but I am not certain as have not had my 08 apart yet.

did the new slip on come with and insert that you place over the stock header tube and slip the slip on over? Although I didn't need it, my FMF came w/ two reducers.

07 and 08 have the same headers, The 06 had a smaller diameter header at the midpipe joint. If you have an 08 header already, you have the biggest head pipe that has ever come on a YZ. Are you sure your silencer is a slip on for a stock head pipe?

The 07 450 has a 41mm header pipe dia and the 08 450 has a 45mm head pipe diameter. The 08 head pipe tapers to the larger diameter straight out of the head.

I went ahead and bought a stock 2006 header in hopes it will bolt right onto my 08 and fit my akra slip on. It was only 50 bucks, I figured it was a lot better than spending the 200 for a power bomb.

The '07 & '08 header are the same diameter at the muffler joint.

I know this for a fact because I am running an OEM '07 muffler on the '08 header.

But like somebody said before, the '08 is larger right off the exhaust port.

Yes, that is what I meant by the same, mounting wise they are the same. They are different between the exhaust port and the midpipe joint, but they are the same when it comes to mounting.
