OMG, now my eyes are scared from trying to scratch the memory of those pics out of em and I'm going to blame you guys if I screw up while checking the valves on the thumper tonight due to lack of vision :p

Glad you told me about the Athena gasket issue. Bro in law got one for the yz450f for his kid. He don't work on them, has shop do his work, so this should be fun to watch as I warned him already that there could be some extra maintance due to it. I hope his mechanic knows about this issue. Hmmmmm do I tell him or just watch :moon:

I think I will vote for watch, as the bike just gets rode around the farm in circles and some drag racing in the field :moon:

I feel the urge to ......................... never mind it passed :ride:

What the hell is wrong with you UA?

Anyway.....
Another hamfisted report........
I was able to drill out the head of the primary drive bolt. I pulled the gear off and there was plenty to grap with vise grips. Not happenning! I had to drill the bolt and use an easy-out and the remainder came out like it was finger tight. :p
THE SEAL:
It actually looked in good condition and not cocked as bad as I thought it was. I was able to remove it fairly easy, but the rubber inards remained on the crank. I used a pick to remove that. Though the seal didn't look worn there was what i believe some residual gear oil on the inside of it.
I cleaned everything up and pushed the new seal in and it is ready to go.
My new bolt and washer should be here Wed $6 for the bolt and washer. $12 for delivery.
If it isn't one thing its another.
Poop!

LOL!
I need to get through the environmental phase of it 1st. This township has been nothing, but problems too. I also have the property clean up to sort out as well. I am gonna start a small track just for the boy and a couple of his friends to ride(nothing big so don't get excited) so the neighbors will be broken in.

Cylinder brush update:

That freakin thing is AWESOME!
Perfect cross hatch and everything!
In other news,
When I started pulling the topend apart, oil started flowing. There was quite alot of oil in the exhaust valve area to the point of saturating the gaskets for the covers. I pulled the jug and cleaned everything out, honed it with the brush :p
There was a scratch inside the cylinder and a matching one on the piston. nothing serious, but probably a piece of dirt and it did hone out. The piston doesn't look like it has 30hrs on it at all. Almost no scuffing or wear and it could have gone another 30. I'll take a pic of it when the camera gets here.
One thing I did notice when I pulled the V-force off is that the top of the reeds on the upper half were all chalkie. I don't think I will be installing it back on because it scares me. I found the same kind of black chalk like material on the inside of the intake manifold area. I'll take a pic of that as well. The wrist pin was difficult to remove, like it was stuck. I got it out without too much trouble and found that it was somewhat discolored. Interesting to say the least.
Well thats all the poop I have for now, The cylinder is soaking in hot soapy water so I will clean that up, dry it out and assemble.

POOP!

Didn't you know that V-force is actually V-farce meaning they're a farce to be reckoned with? Seriously though, they're junk. Get a Boyesen Rad Valve or some OEMs or some Boyesen super stocker's (not stalker :p).

Discoloration of your wrist pin could be a sign that it's running lean. What's the model number and/or name of the Wiseco brush again?? :ride:

I liked the V-force, but I don't like what I saw. I bet I can return it!

It's funny that I could see the bearing marks on the wrist pin as well.

Wiseco part #w6076
The company that makes it is
Goodson Shop supplies
1-800-533-8010

They call it the UF-250 ultra finish hone
57-70mm nylon soft hone brush.

Thats all the info I have for this really great tool that is a must have for anyone that does their own top ends.

All my tolerances end gap etc etc were all less than 1/2 the service limits on the old stuff, I didn't bother checking the new parts!:p

$43!  What did you give Wiseco for it?  If it's that good, and I still don't see any pictures to prove it :ride:, I may have to get one.

I haven't seen any black crap on my RAD valve.  Did you taste it to determine what it is? :p

I sent it to a lab and it's Reddi-wip. Shrub strikes again!:moon:
I don't know what it is but I don't like it 1 bit. So I will be getting rid of that right away.

UA, trust me on this brush. It really dressed my cylinder up nice. I just put it in the Dewalt cordless on low and stroked it real nice and slow like a Vegas cocktail waitress.

He's back!
Oil has nothing to do with it.:moon: After 4 yrs the reeds in my KX V-force still look like new.
I actually think it may be a material flaw or something. The rest of the reeds look alright. I threw the stock cage back into it for now.

If it were not for all the drama,:ride:  the original kitchen thread would have been 80 pages deep by now and still Zook related.:p

Ham fisting at it's best!

The reeds! notice the discoloration/film that is on them and only on the top reeds.
Posted Image

Does this piston look like it has 30hrs on it? I could have just replace the rings and been good.
Posted Image

As you can tell, I got the camera. I actually had one stuffed in a drawer that I never used until now.

That looks an awful lot like Reddi-wip residue on the reeds. A dollop of Silkolene should take care of it. :p

I'd clean that piston up and hold it back as a spare.

I agree on all 3 accounts.
I just find it weird that the reeds would look like that.

That DR125 is awesome! That was my trail bike when I was a kid and I must have put 20k on that motor. A good bike that stood up to the punishment and neglect for years.
