Rekluse brake building up pressure!

Finally got my left hand rear brake installed and bled, but now its building up crazy pressure as I ride. I can't ride more than 1/4 mile or so without locking it up. Any ideas?

Sounds like the brake is dragging, and there is still air in the lines.

Wouldn't the lever or pedal pump up if there was air in the lines? That's how it is with cars. In less than 1/4 mile, the lever goes from feeling good and firm to feeling extremely firm. The brakes go from working fine to dragging like crazy. There's never a point where they pump up like there's air in the lines.

Thanks for your help on this post and my last one. I need to post a pic of my controls setup (LHRB and shorty clutch on left side with Baja Designs switch). I finally got something that works.

It takes lotsand lots of pumps on the pedal to make it 'pump-up': the master cylinder is tiny.

Does the rear wheel spin freely on the stand?

talk about embarrassing! its fixed and works great now. The whole problem was a lack of adjustment in the new brake lever. It was holding a tiny amount of pressure that was building up in the system (probably as I used the brake lever?). Anyway, it works fine now. Not incredibly powerful, but it will lock it up on pavement with a firm pull at low speed.
