Date: 02/11/2009 BLUERIBBON COALITION ACTION ALERT!
Dear BRC Action Alert Subscriber,
Sequoia National Forest Announces the Release of DEIS for Travel Management
The Sequoia National Forest, located in central California, has announced the release of their Motorized Travel Management Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for public review and comment. The goal is to develop a sustainable system of routes that provide an array of opportunities for access and recreation on national forest lands, as well as protection of various resources by curtailing motorized cross-country travel.
The 60-day public review and comment period for the DEIS will end on March 31, 2009. The purpose of the comment period is to give the public an opportunity to provide early and meaningful participation on the proposed action prior to the project decision being made. The DEIS, maps and all supporting documents are available on the Sequoia National Forest website at http://www.fs.fed.us...tegy/index.html.
In order to help the public understand the contents of the DEIS and the maps, the Forest Service will be holding a series of public meetings. They are scheduled as follows.
