Need some info on home built Dual Sport Kit.....

How much are you thinking you will end up spending? The reason I ask is because (I know you dont want an off the shelf kit) there is a kit available that is the best I've seen out there from a company called sicass racing, with the all LED upgrade its about $430.00 but it is turn key......no wires to cut, everything plugs right in and is very easy to install. I have one on my 08 wr450 and it looks and works awesome!

That picture is exactly why I am going to use some rubber

cut down to bolt the license plate on. Probably either rubber

from a tire, or maybe one of those large heavy mud flaps

like seen on semis. I figure that will be stiff enough to hold

the tag, but flexible enough to move during a get off.

I'm gonna put mine on top of the rear section of the fender and more straight out. anything under gets killed. I've done this a few times already ...... the rear tire will grab whatever it can, trust me! one big jump and .....

I have seen the plate mounted inside the rear fender kind of at the back of the air box. It's not exactly legal but you wont knock it off, then again you wont see it once some mud finds it!

IMHO this is the best plate mount you can buy...its small, light and out of the way...not to mention its cheap 36.94 bucks from oemcycle.com

Compared to the baja designs plate holder, it doesnt flop around?

that my friend would be the new fender style of the 07+ WR's?

and crashed...well i dont think anything is fool proof...i looped my XR and ripped the whole rear fender off (didnt loose the plate as i unbolted from the fender!)...so no matter how you bolt your plate on what good does it do if you loose the rear fender in a crash

I think being involved with the baja 1k sounds like a lot of

fun, and a lot of work all wrapped into one.

I went with the ryco kit on my 07 wr,got it for around 250 from rocky mt/mc,so far so good,easy to install, and the leds are bright.

I have found that nothuing lasts. Just get it together to pass the inspection. I have the B/D light/bracket on mine. It hasnt broken off yet, many crashes. I think its the only thing left from my d/s that still works.

Does anyone know if a WR450 will kick start if the battery is disconnected? I am assuming no since there is no circuit from the stator to the coil. I would like to put a key-triggered relay inline with the battery.
