Will a 2000 426 head bolt up to a 99 400 cylinder? What about just slapping a whole cylinder and head from a 2000 426 onto my 99 400 bottom end? I have a cracked head and piston and need to figure something out due to the lack of 400 heads running around ebay.

This should help you figure out what you will need to go the 426 route.

The head will bolt on, but you'll have to drill and tap for the fitting for the hot start hose, or use a 426 carb. In order to use the 426 cylinder, you have to rebuild the crank with a 426 rod, since the wrist pin in the 426 piston is larger.
