it has been working fine for me since i got my '98yz.

try to do the underside if you can.

for some odd reason my '81yz seems to stay yellow no matter how much heat i put on it! :)

I had a couple of good white creases in my fenders + radiator shrouds and a heat gun took them right out. It also will gloss the plastic back up. Carefull around the tank.

The heat gun trick works great. And it works on any color plastic (except white of course). I been doing it for years. Just be careful and not get it too hot, or you can melt the plastic. I have a professional heat gun, and you can set fires with it, so I gotta be careful. A paint stripper type heat gun is about the same thing, be careful.

I don't believe a hair dryer will get hot enough to melt the plastic, but it may take longer to work (if at all).

Just be careful to not overheat, and watch the white marks fade away :)

I just tried the heat gun on mine. Worked great! You can see the plastic turn from dull to shiny as you move the gun. It only takes a little bit of heat, so go easy and pay attention to what is getting hot wining a 2" circle. I deformed an area I wasn't even working on because of the way the hot air moved around the fins in the plastic. it all concentrated up in a spot I wasn't looking at.

I had an area on the blue that was scratched up, so I sanded it. Bad idea, it turned white! The heat gun fixed it right up.

Oh, ya the heat gun was the girlfriends for her scrap booking projects. It says it was 360 watts, which was more than enough. It was $14 at Joann Fabrics, or any craft store.

So far so good. It's very fast and stable. I have a squeaky clutch, but not to bad. Here are some links to my first ride report and the history of what's up since I owned it:

Concerns after the first ride

Story of the second ride, kind of funny. Scroll down about 2/3rds the way to see my post
