03 250f won't start. Going in shop today.

Hey all. After a weekend trying to diagnose why my new F won't start, I'm taking it to the shop today. It is baffling me. It has been started a total of 20 times, 15 of those on the track. It maybe has 2 hours of total riding time on it. It started fine before, even in the frozen weather. Now it is 55 degrees out and nothing.
I took the bike half apart last weekend to try and troubleshoot. I took the carb off, blew it (even that didn't work) :) cleaned it, went up and down one on the pilot and main, put an iridium plug in (it has a spark), put brand new gas in, and tried all the starting drills posted over the past 6 months on TT--nothing.
It seems like it has a loss of compression, but after only having the bike for a short while, I'm not exactly sure what normal compression should feel like, especially with the auto decomp on this model. All I can think of is that my baby has a faulty oil pump, water pump, etc. that caused it to overheat while idling and seize the rings like what happened to jdouglas a couple of weeks ago. I haven't let it idle for over two minutes though. I don't think the valves would be stuck on such a new bike.
Needless to say I'm perplexed and hope these are just some bugs that need to be worked out with the new bike, not a sign of things to come. I'll keep everyone posted.

It doesnt take long for these bikes to over heat. Mine starts to over heat with in the first 2 minutes. You should check yur valve clearances. Those are supposed to be checked after break in. If that still don't work you should start thinking about yur car. Of if the gas is getting though the veins of the beast.

Well, I just spent $50 to find out nothing's wrong with my F. My mechanic said that he thought the key might have sheared off the flywheel, throwing off the timing. He said he took the cover off, saw that nothing was wrong, filled the bike with oil, and fired it right up.
Here's the catch. When I asked him how he started it, he said he turned the gas on, cracked the throttle 15-20 times, held the throttle 1/4 way open without the choke, and kicked. Then he proceeded to teach me how to start my own bike :).
This goes completely against everything I've heard! I am new to 4-strokes and all I have read in the manual and around TT is to maybe crack the throttle once to prime it, but then keep your hand as far away from the throttle as possible after that. I told him about that and he said Yamaha doesn't want you fouling plugs, but these bikes need to be extremely rich for them to start.
Oh well, you live and you learn, sometimes more embarassingly than others.

Dumb question I know, but did you check for a fouled plug? I have had trouble starting my bike at times and changed plugs. Started right up.

Ditto the fouled plug question, especially if it's the plug that came in it. If it's the delivered plug I'd change it anyway.

Yeah. I put the NGK cr8eix iridium plug in. Still didn't want to fire. It had no trouble starting before last week. It just up and quit. That's what had me so freaked out, I guess. Thanks for all the responses you guys, everything helps.

Never touch throttle while motor hot.

Must give gas and crack throttle when cold.

Never eat yellow snow.

mine alluvasudden was VERY hard starting after I cleaned/oiled my air filter.. I'm thinking I was "too good" too my bike and over-oiled the filter. Once it was running it ran like a top tho.

I too read somewhere (after the last time I went riding) that you should crack the throttle a couple of times before kicking it over, but to leave the throttle alone during the actual kicking. I thought I'd try next time I went riding (looking at all the new snow outside..).
