How many of you guys are running them? What do you like/dislike? Did you change the front sprocket at all? Thanks in advance!

I run a 49 or a 48. Anything lower is just too low to be practical, and keeps the shifter too busy.

I had the stock 49 on but I don't need overall top speed as much as snap. Then I put on the 50 and it is not that noticeable of a difference in loose dirt, only hard pack. So I figured I would definitely notice the 51 without going so big as to have a pie plate rear. I don't want to lose all the top, but I like the low.

I ran a 51 for mx for the better part of the year. It was really awesome. I ride B class and it was nice on the start and made 3rd gear turns a lot easier, almost no clutch work involved. I say this however with one caveat, if you weigh less than 190lbs it's overkill.

I switched back to the 50 tooth sprocket, however when I went to a high compression piston.

With the 51 all I had done was a quickshot and pro circuit complete exhaust.

This week I am a whopping 235!! I am normally in between 200-225 give or take a few. Never under 190 unless I starve myself. I havent been 190 for almost a year. So you liked the 51 for mx. Do you ride trails too?

I had the 51 on and didn't like it at all. I run the 50. I got used to it and like it the best of 49,50 and 51.

I run a 50 and never shift. 3rd gear the entire track and most starts. Seems to work pretty good for me.

Depends on the layout of the specific track.

I run a 51 for offroad and it is perfect for what, and where I ride. You really have to decide for yourself which sprocket works best for you. There is no way anyone can tell you what will, or won't work.

Nah, only mx. I will say my riding style involves more shifting than most, I'm not really a revver. I like to lug and chug so I cruise in 3rd and 4th mostly...2nd gear for tight corners and big seat bounce style jumps out of corners.

Most of the tracks by us are all 2nd 3rd and 4th.................No real wide open stuff.

Very true and I believe siscokid is in D34(MSC) area. I have also raced Unadilla, Etown, Broome, Area 51 and a few tracks down south and still basically only used 3rd and 4th every once in a while. It's all about how you ride and what you like. I would much rather lug than rev.

I run a 50 and haven't tried anything else. I guess I'll stay with that one, I have a 14 front I was gonna try 13.

I ran a 51 this year, stock front. Mostly tight technical trails so low 1st was super nice. Only problem is Chain Guide plastic doesn't last long. Its time for my third one this year!

This is from the perspective of a novice who rides only trails, a lot of it tight singletrack, and intermediate hillclimbs. I've been using a 51 rear and 13 front on a 2000 426f. I'm probably favoring that combo because using the clutch while maneuvering is a new concept to me. What I'd really like is a lower first gear and everything else stock. By the way, I am 6'7" and weigh 220-230 (depending on what I've been eating).

Thanks guys for the opinions. I am not looking for any suggestions because I already have the sprocket a you can see. I know that everyone rides differently and has their own likes and dislikes, so I just wanted some info on what to expect. And I was also hoping I made the right decision. Thanks again.
