I'm trying to help out a friend with an '03 yz450.

The Kicker bound up and broke the kicker shaft, somehow the idle gear that drives the oil pump also broke. I think some parts from the kicker found there way down to the oil pump gear.

How much resistance should there be to turn the oil pump by hand ?

I can turn it by hand but it takes a little bit of muscle, Is this normal ?

Thanks

No, it's not. If loosening and retightening doesn't do it, the shaft is probably bent.
