Well, I had a big two day ride at TNT Motorsports park in Chester, SC this past weekend... last week started with a bad omen. I was riding around the yard and I lost compression, so I commenced to taking the bike apart to see what the problem was. First step, check the timing... WHOA! The chain had jumped two teeth on the intake cam. There's the problem, wonder if it messed anything else up. Pulled the head to see if it did any other damage... nope, whew. While I'm in here I might as well freshen the motor up a bit, eh. So I ordered a new cam chain, rings, gaskets, valve seals, etc... overnight. Parts come in like they are supposed to only to find that my buddy at the shop ordered a valve cover gasket instead of a head gasket and valve guides instead of valve seals. So, the mad scramble begins... finally found a distributor that has the parts and get a buddy to pick them up for me. So, its friday night and I have a bike to put back together because I am leaving at 10:00 the next morning to go riding. I get the bike back together and get in the bed... at 5:30 am. Got 2 hours of sleep, got up heat cycled the bike a few times to seat the rings in good, loaded up and went to TNT. Got there, unloaded the bikes, got suited up, and hit the track... :) note to self... stay away from the motocross track. Dove into the woods and got a good first loop out of the way. Got up to speed pretty quickly on the hardpack and settled into a good pace for the heat. Went back to the truck and got some rest and some more fluids and decided to go back out. Went out on the second loop and got into a good race pace with a few of my friends, came around a long, fast left-hander, and... **** , tree, bam, ouch, stand up, asses situation, can't stand up foot hurts too bad, DOH! I was going to t-bone the tree, but I got on the gas hard enough to square off the corner... the only thing that hit was my right foot. Broke my big toe and ripped the toe-nail out. So I'm off the bike for at least 4 weeks, so the doctors say. The thing taht pisses me off the most is that I spent so much time getting the bike back together in time to go, only to ride for an hour and be out for a while. Sorry for the babbling...

Yo Stumpy,
I can feel your pain. Many years ago I stubbed my foot on a rock entering a big sweeper. It ejected my toenail instantly. I was lucky that my toe didn't break like yours. But I did push the bone thru the front of my toe. My toe split like grape.
The maintenance marathon you performed before the tree dance is so far beyond anthing I ever accomplished. I am in awe...

Heck you can still ride. I Dont listen to them doctors. Ive rode 2 days after breakin my big toe. Granted the toenail was still attached. The lack of a toenail might slow ya down. But You can ride with broken toes. Aint nothin the doc can do for them anyways. So I just made sure it was straight, taped it to the one next to it and stufed it into a boot. Had to shift with the top of my foot for a while. But I was riddin.

Hell I've yanked both of my big toenails totally out in the past 2 weeks pissed at ingrowns. Been fighing them my whole life. Stings like hell for about 15 seconds and makes a bit of a mess with the blood and pus but after they are gone pour a good size shot of rubbing alcohol in there and they'll simmer on down. Now I don't have hadly any trouble yanking the ingrown buzzard out. oldasdirt :) :D :D didn't read about the broken part that's a whole different kettle of fish
got to let some bone reattach before going gonzo again. Damn shame but truth. Wish ya the best.

Kaze,
Wish I would have missed it (the Cracker)... miserable, miserable race. I would like to go back when it is somewhat dry, though, I think I would like it.

On a high note, I did manage to ride the bike around the yard yesterday. I couldn't believe I kicked it with my orthopedic shoe and got it to start without injuring myself worse.
