Recommended Posts

Hi guys having just rebuilt my wr 450 its time for its first oil change. And ive found in the workshop some new brass oil filters that are used in the 426. can these filters be used in the 450. I don't mind buying the paper ones i'm trying to use what ive got hanging around.

They are actually a different size from memory. They are still a throw away item as well.

If you want reusable, just buy a scotts. It is the best filter on the market (for flow and filtration) and will pay for it's self over and over.

You can use the filter. Dimensionally, the filters are all the same from 1998 to 2009, and are interchangeable between the entire YZ/WR 400/426/450 lineup. However, the merits of the brass mesh vs. paper vs. stainless steel mesh is debatable. I personally use the Scotts stainless steel filter in my bikes.
