Hey everyone,

I have been talking to a friend of a friend about buying his 2007 yz450F. It's looking like I could get a pretty sweet deal on it so I am really starting to consider it. I was wondering if anyone on here has anything to say about the YZF's from this year.

I know they made some changes to the fork clamps, the rear shock, and the exhaust, but I wanted to know how the '07 Yamaha compared to the competition from this year. And how about the motor compared with the 08's?

I'm riding an '04 YZ250F right now, so I'm sure I'm definitely going to be happy with a newer and bigger bike

Advice would be appreciated!

-Mike

I would definitely do it. It will feel more nimble and lighter than your 04 plus will have better turning and power delivery qualitys. Hands down in my opinion.

Same here...i absolutely love my 07 yz450f. I also put a Dr. D exhaust system on it. It woke the motor up like crazy. Not that it needed it much but it did make a big difference on the lower end. I would definetly recommend this bike!

Nope. In terms of peak power, the '06 puts out 49.5, the '07 about one more than that, and the '08 puts out right at 52. But the '06 had the strongest mid range of the bunch. The '07 cams pushed the power farther up the curve, and the '08 farther still. But that's all with teh stock pipe. With a good exhaust the '08 is much stronger than stock in the middle.

The suspension was not as plush on the '07 as the other two, but that's just tuning.

true. the stock exhaust system on the 07 was pretty good from the factory.. but that being said.. the bottom was soft to some and a pipe or gearing change was a fix to this..

so to the op if you dont like the way the power rolls on or u want a lil more.. throw a pipe or go up a few on the rear..

Love my 07 to bits after some mild and much needed suspension tweaks. Overly impressed. Only have had the bike for about a month so time will tell how the bike ages and grows on me!
