I've never been to Stony on Thanksgiving weekend but I know it gets crowded. If we roll into Davis Flat late Friday morning, is there going to be room for us to set up camp? We'll have an RV, a trailer and a bunch of trucks.

The last time I was there on a holidy weekend was Presidents Day weekend and Davis Flat was pretty much full.

not! there should only be 10,000 people or so ahead of you. I went last year on Saturday and could barely park my truck. The hot ticket would be to have a friend who was going up earlier in the week to make his camp a "little" wide leaving you room to get you in.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. We're screwed.

When I was there for President's Day weekend, it was pretty crowded, but there was room to park. I think the only reason it wasn't completely full was because most of the trails were still snowed in and a lot of people stayed home.

I almost don't want to go, the trails will be packed and I don't need to be getting into a head on.

Stoney is not the place to be on turkey day...GT or Elkins would be safer...pipi is too crazy...go clear into Elkins...

Try venturing away from the whooped out OHV parks. Chances are you will see no one and gett o ride s trail w/o a whoop or breaking bump. Who knows you might like it.

I'm sure it will be crowded, but I'll bet only half of what was there last year. There is a reason gas is back down.

I did Stony on Thanksgiving a couple of years ago. What a nightmare. Last year I did Downie. Chased two fresh tracks for awhile and saw one local coming up to the Buttes on a loop. COLDER than a coal miners crotch but warmer than a witches nipple. Fun though.
