oil tank breather hose

Recommended Posts

got a 1998 yz400. last ride i was leakin oil real bad behind the radiators. finally checked it out and its the oil tank breather hose (it comes out near the top of the frame near the dipstick.)(remember my oil is in the frame) i looked in my manual and it seems like it connects to the top of the cylinder head. The schematics for the hoses is messy i thot id make sure and ask u guys.

There is a 1/4" or 5/16" hose leading from the oil tank to the cam cover on your engine, yes. It serves as a pressure balancer between the engine and tank. You should find a fitting for it near the main engine breather hose fitting. If the popped off, check the breather hose to see if it's pinched or blocked anywhere.
