I cant belive this ting now!!! i used two zip ties, and the throttle is full WOT at like 1/4 turn...
in second gear, the rear wheel spins like crazy in the wet...it never did that before...im going through gears SOOO much faster!!!

make sure that you do the o-ring mod if you have an FCR and do this, i mean i feel like i got a totally diffeent machine..

i took some pics, and will post them later

A lot of people on here replace their throttle tubes with r6 (i believe). its the same idea with out the zipties.

I wonder if you can do the mod with aluminum throttle tube? Would the super glue stick the zip tie:thinking:

Silicone Adhesive that you use for the case savers would work :D

WOW! What a difference! My throttle is now a 1/3 turn instead of a 1/2 or more turn. I shaved a little of the throttle tube off where the short cable connects to. I could not fit the zip tie in the groove so I eliminated the groove. This works so well and did not cost a thing. I found a old chunk of zip tie in my work bench so I did not have to use a new one. (Zipties are priceless in my opinion). Thanks for the idea whoever created this.

Wrong, read all the thread :moon: it was dis-proven, I also did this mod and re-did my measurements. Did absolutely nothing.....
Hope fully someone will do photo comparisons for this mod..

Um, maybe I'm being completely dense, but is this mod safe?
Surely the thing has been designed for the cables to sit in the gooves, with the zip tie on could the cables not slip off?
I'd also like to reduce the twist distance, are there any other mods?

Oh that O-ring mod! Cheers William, but I am bogless at the moment (you guys know that a bog is a toilet over here .. right?!) so will leave it alone. I assume that my FCR is regular being a standard kicker.

I suppose there could be a risk of that with certain throttle housings, but I think the chances are negligible(sp?) if the cable enters the housing in line with where the nipple is secured to (for want of a more suitable description!)

If you're really worried you could always put a small groove in the zip-tie with a needle file I guess, although the boosting effect would be reduced as this mod works by increasing the diameter of the part of the throttle tube that pulls the cable, thus pulling more cable per degree of twist... (which also means, BTW, that if the cable were to slip off the only likely result would be the throttle closing slightly)

IMO it's perfectly safe, but I won't be doing it as I'm happy with the throttle action as it is on all my bikes.

Entirely correct.....the R6 mod works:banana:

I'm wondering if the throttle you got was really the R6 part?? Maybe there was a mixup in what you received?:banghead:

As to the zip-tie mod..........the reason it works is that it increases the diameter of the throttle plastic where the cable rides, therefore pulling more cable than the stock model.

Where the danger arises is if......or when that piece of zip-tie becomes loose, it might wedge against something, therefore jamming your throttle in the stuck position. This could be at idle, or wide open, or anywhere in-between.

Stuck wide-open-throttle and you are in for a WFO Experience:busted: that they may scrape your remains up off of the asphalt with a snow shovel (geeze.....I always wondered why tow trucks carried those snow shovels anyway):cripple:

Me thinks that this is a cheap mod that me gonna' pass up....if I want "more twist" I'll go the R6 route:smirk:

Did everything by the book and it didn't work. Don't know what I did wrong :bonk: Well, maybe it's better in the long run to get the r6 throttle.
