good day today.received the cylinder works bb kit and hot rod 5mm stroker crank.
depending on angle of piston in the bore, the bottom of piston pin boss will barely scuff or rub on crank web at bdc.:banghead:
-cylinder works says 0.040 clearance needed but unsure of #(i'm not an engineer he says)
-wiseco stays quiet as they manufacture piston to cylinder works specs so ask them instead.wiseco only says 0.180 minimum thickness on bottom of pin boss should remain(ball park # as it depends on engine)this is exactly what is on this piston.
- are there no thrust washers on the big end of crank?

anyone with this combo out there cares to chime in?
otherwise everything looks good.cylinder works kit seems decent quality but time will tell.

thid is ware Eddies exertees come into play

you have to grind a little off the under side of the piston

easily done but then boss gets too thin if following wiseco info.

I would wate for Eddie to chime in

but whin I do a 470 rebuild the head and piston will be sent or bot from Eddie

this way he can work his majic over those parts that truly need his TLC

I can slap the parts together

needs to have .030" minimum at bdc.

no thrust washers.

thanks eddie.
assuming i remove .030 from boss,i'll be below wiseco recommended thickness.
take it off the crank?

no,not off the crank.

you said it just barely scrubs depending on the angle.

with the piston straight up and down does the piston hit the crank?

another member posted just the other day that it clears no problem.

yes,i saw that post.
if perfectly vertical i have .015 on one side and .014 on the other.
piston rocks a fair bit however.this is with no rings installed for mock up.
seeing worst case scenario.

i only have to remove .015 to .016 from boss so should be safe i think.

correction.
if measuring both sides at the same time, clearance is 0.006 to 0.007 only.
disregard previous #.
