I hate stuffing the TRC, but sometime it's just too friggin loud!

So i made a dawg-inspired insert, hoping that would quiet it down without
restricting it too much.

And the results?
Not so good.

Performance seems to be way better then the potato.
The Thumping is gone and it leaves a higher pitched 2 strokey sound.
Quite annoying really, and still loud, maybe less db's.
At this stage i wont even bother to dyno or db measure it, because i dislike the way it sounds.

Ill be trying a bigger diam. hole and mesh to try and get something usefull out of it. Keeping you posted.

Aha... a home made dB Dawg
Good work there.

We use them at our track (one of the rules) and they work well.

Nice work..... That is a small whole for the gasses to exit.....so there goes the performance. Perhaps make that whole as big as you can....put in a pipe say 8-10 inches long inserted into the muffler through the hole. The moment you restrict the flow....you restrict the power.

Not on any of our bikes that I've heard, no - all still sound deep and meaty.

Is there anyone who has taken a bike with the db dawg on the dyno ?
Seen post about it reducing sound by up to 10db,without loss of power ,but really would like to see a dyno

false.

doesnt matter how you go about it,anyhing that combats noise by restricting the ex out let WILL affect the power out put.

Lets put it like this. Try breathing through a straw. Now do it while jogging.

They use to sell a glass pack or cherry bomb muffler for cars. It was straight threw and no restriction. I had one on my hot rod and liked it. Maybe you can adapt something like that

You might be able to get rid of the "tweety" two-strokey sound by putting a 15* taper on the outlet, with the large end out. Also, I'd suggest milling the interior parts of the cavity flat, or if possible, with a 45* bevel.

I suspect you're getting a lot of turbulence at the exit, which is causing the high pitch.

Looks like it will work with the Yoshi pipe... Foots Mod worked very nicely for me with my White Bros. R4 pipe and only took a small amount of work to get the fit right...just a little dremel grinding.

Will keep u posted on any further experimentation.
