What a nice cheap mod for these bikes. Just got back from my first ride and all I can say is wow. Did the 3x3 mod with a torch and a blade then installed the jet kit. I used the blue needle, clip on #3 groove from top, 155 main jet, 25 pilot jet, stock fuel screw 2 1/2 turns out. Idles strong, no stumbles or hesitation and no popping on deceleration. I'm at sea level, stock exhaust and stock air filter.

Copngrats on having accomplished the jetting.

Now start saving for a FCR. Once you have that, I;ll let you know what to save for next! ;)

Dude, run. Now. Don't ever log onto this sight again. You will find yourself trying to decide which is more prudent: Putting new floors in your house or getting a new exhaust. You don't want this pain!!!!

This site is too addicting! I think I'll do a cosmetic mod next and get the Edge tail light with some nice LED signals. Pretty cheap and will more than likely fly under the wifey radar.

It's too late. He's hooked. So much for the kids college fund.

Sure, sure....., first its' "Just a jet kit", then "Perhaps an Edge tailight, some led blinkers".

The first mods are cheap, till you are hooked, then the wife will be working nights to support your addiction, friends will fruitlessly attempt an intervention.

I wonder if DRZ modding expense can be covered under a Gov. bailout?

I saved for a while to pay cash for a 2004 400e. I'd probably be perfectly happy with the bikes performance if I had never found this site. Now I have a huge wish list started in my head. Its all over when I get the factory manual and convince myself I know how to do all this stuff.

Congrats on the successful mod.

If you think the 3X3 and rejetting the stock Mikuni carb is nice, wait until you break-down and buy a Keihin FCR39.
You'll then realize what a paperweight the stock carburetor is. :)

So are you saying I should get the FCR39 over the SSW/MRD pipe? After the Edge tail light will probably be the exhaust orrrrr an FCR39. Which do you think should come first?

Oh, no. It's too late now. You, my friend... are lost.

I, on the other hand, am going to be ripping out my carpet next week to install my new floors. To everyone who has an FCR, big bore, and one of those beautiful MRD pipes: I CURSE YOU ALL!!!

I think eddie and the other experts on here recommend the carb before the pipe.

Yeah i like you just got a Drz400sm not to long ago, which to my luck already had somethings done to it like the LED taillight, zeta clutch and front break levers, new handle bars, and an FCR...but after getting on this site i feel like i have so many things i need to do to it to make it unique and mine.... all the possabilities. damn being a broke college student!!!

also a quick question i am not sure if the bike already has a 3x3 mod. but if it doesnt and since i have a fcr do i need to rejet it after i do it?....it also has stock exhaust if that matters in the case.
