I am getting back into riding after many years absence. I like the look of the Suzuki and may just buy a new one--seem very fairly priced for what the bike is. But since there are a lot of used ones around, I might look for a clean used one--especially if I can find a low-milage example.

I know these bikes have been in production for a while, but what was the last year that major changes were made to the DRZ? I think bikes made from 2004 to current are the same. Am I right on that? Should I stay away from the earliest years of production?

Thanks for your help!

2001 or 2002 they spec'd the S and E with the same suspension. Earlier S models did not have current adjustment abilities......

Depending on if your looking for a Dual Sport or trail bike...the pre 06 E models have the hotter cams, higher comp, and FCR.

Are you looking for a off road version only or dual sport?

There is a nice '03 KLX400R for sale up in WA on craigslist, and a very nice '01 in longview (craigslist Portland).

I have a blue 06S fully loaded for sale if you are interested. Dirt and SM wheels included. I'm an hour SW of PDX.
