Buying stuff for my motorcycle is what keeps me breathing. Kind of like that movie Crank, if he stops, he will die...:smirk:

Women go to malls and buy tones of clothes and $hit. And men go to hardware stores and bike shops to buy tools and upgrade bike parts.

No matter what they built somebody would find a way to make it better.

Guess I'm weird, in that I don't tend to do a lot to my bikes. I'm also not a hardcore rider either I stick to dual sporting and some light trails. For me, a stock DRZ with just a few hundred bucks of comfort features and the cheapie mods really make me happy.

I'm also frugal, and it's hard to get my head around things that are modest performance gains that cost $500, and mean next to nothing on the value of the bike if you sell it. If I were racing, would be a different story but for me spending the bike's worth in small things isn't something I have any interest in.

I'd rather spend my money riding it and taking trips.

Heck man, I know that if any of us had the coin to buy a Ducati 1098s, we'd still trick it out even more!! :)

And if adding potential to a good bike is your thing, then the DRZ400 is pure bliss!!!! HAHAHAHA

I've never ridden a bike that was so much fun, yet had so much potential as the DRZ400SM. One thing I wonder though...Yamaha and now Kawasaki have brought out 250 Supermotos...why not go for the big bore bikes?? Wouldn't the 250 need even more tweaking to really rip?

It's weird, because when I bought my ZX-10, I kept it totally stock. It has more than enough power for what I use it for, so I kept it stock except for adding items that make it more track friendly. All I upgraded were spare plastics for the track, rearsets, better tires, radiator guard, better grips and safety wire.

On the DRZ, I can't keep from thinking about ways to upgrade and or personalize the bike.

i think with these new exhaust systems being 1,000 dollars on the 09 and above motocrossers the buying might slow a little bit.

Don't get me wrong it is so much fun to Mod, but when you start spending your "Lunch Money" because you can't stop thinking about that new "whatever" and are only eating twice a day, it gets bad. I know, have more self control, but DAMN THESE BIKES ARE FUN!

I guess you could spend the extra 3K+ at time of purchase for one of them Orange bikes. Then you could spend more $ on necessary maintenance. :p

You know if you drink microbrew beer there is at least a sandwich in every beer. Then again if your drinking the right one it might be Prime Rib in your eyes.:smirk:
