I think my excell SM rims are leaking, they always seem to need air, is this normal for tubless tires and rims? Are there any ways to stop the leaks or should I just deal with it.
Thanks

Need more info on your weels. Are they spoke wheels? Is the rim flange design made to mount tubeless tires? Are the spokes sealed for use as tubeless? Tubeless tires? Are the tires mounted without tubes?

Just cause it has spokes doesn't mean it has to have a tube... You can convert spoked rims to tubeless...

That said, the day I got my SM with spoked excel rims, I filled both wheels with OKO, regardless of whether they are tubed or not... never lost any air...

woot for technicalities, the wheels from the factory need tubes, and my S wheels with tubes, need air every week, so it may be normal.

If you have standard spoked rims then you have a slow in your tube or a leaky valve.

If you have some form of sealed spoked rim to run tubless then you have a leaky seal in that rim somehere or a leaky valve.

I sold him some extra OEM SM wheels I had, good guy. They definitely had tubes when they left my garage. I am confused. He will likely respond. Let's wait and see.Posted ImagePosted Image

Opps Im sorry:bonk: , they do have tubes, I thought that they were like the rims on my other bike, they do not have tubes, so that being said it sounds like the tube or the valve is leaking, Sorry about the confusion, it was a mistake on my part.:banghead: :banghead:

Take the valve cap off, spit on your finger and wipe it over the valve, if you get a bubble its the valve, if you dont you prob have a puncture!

I could almost bet on it being a puncture some where, now that i think about it i have been abusing the crap out of my tires with alot of dirt riding, i propably picked something up in the dirt, other than adding air, i usuially never pay attention to the tires, as long as there is tread on them i will ride and that is as close as i look at them

Just Slime 'em and run 'em 'til they're bald.

slime is good stuff but dont try to run it on the road. Will throw the wheels out of balance something awful. I run Bridgestone HD tubes and no leaks. THe guys at the shop change tires and the tubes are so tough they have worn the inside of the tire before they wear.

Hmmm, ran slime in the sm wheels and never had a problem with handling.

I run slime in my SM... no problems with handling (at least none caused by the slime:smirk: )

A question for those running slime in their tubes.... when you're changing tyres and take the valve core out to deflate... does some/lots of the slime not splatter out with the escaping air??? or is it 'tacky' and so sticking/coating the tube once installed/filled?

Just wondering.
