do some bikes use the FCR-MX without a main air jet?

I just bought a used FCR-MX39 to use on the DRZ, and it came without a main air jet. so I checked the FCR-MX41 that I have laying around, and it was also missing the main air jet.

Not main air jet rather the slow air jet and yes, it is removed.

If you left it in, you'd have to run a very small pilot jet and that would tend to clog easier. So with the slow air jet out, you can run a more normal pilot jet, typically a 45.

I understand that the slow air jet needs to be removed, that's not the question.

my question was, why do these carbs not have a main air jet? is this normal?

(I know that a 200 main air jet is recommended for the DRZ)
