Yamaha has improved triple clamps set on 08, Would they improve handling on my 06?

not 100% sure, but most likely not. They made the new clamps work with the new front suspension angle they implemented in 07, making it steeper and shortening the wheelbase. not sure what it will do to an 06 though...

Nope, the dimensions on the clamps are the same from 06-08 (and I believe 09 but I haven't seen yet).

That's correct. The clamp offset is the same. The '09 is nice because there are more bar positioning options.
