Does anybody have any tips for cutting holes in the ends of your handgrips to mount Acerbis lever guards? I've done it a few times on different bikes, and never come up with a clean way. Maybe stick a dowel in the grip and use a drill with a hole saw bit? I just got some new grips, and I'd like to do a cleaner job this time. Thanks.

use a hammer. A mallet f some sort. It works for my bmx bikes. Just put the grip on and the keep hitting the grip until the hole wears through.

I use a piece of 3/4" copper tubing. Use a tubing cutter to cut both ends of the tubing - this makes a nice "cutting" edge on the tubing without it being too sharp to handle. Anyway, then just slide one of the grips over the end of the tubing and use a rubber mallet to tap on the end of the grip. The tubing will cut a nice, clean, centered hole in the end of the grip. Good luck!

A hand grinder works great! Just grind down to the bars. 5 or 10 seconds per side. Adjust throttle in an 1/8" or so and install your gaurds.
