start with the kill switch and unplug that then move to your coil to see if it is firing and see if you have a hot wire when the bike is turned over on the posative wire going into the coil from there move to the power coming from the stat to th ing box should have a hot wire on one of the wires coming from the pickup not sure which one of the top of my head

Sometimes the spark can be difficult to see. My CR500 needed a swift kick to generate a good spark. I'd start with the kill switch. Check for spark in the dark and with someone else giving it a swift kick.

I RAN SOME TESTS AND I HAVE POWER COMING FROM THE MOTOR TO THE CDI, BUT THERE IS NO POWER FROM THE CDI TO THE BLACK AND YELLOW WIRE THAT GOES TO THE COIL. THINK I HAVE A BAD CDI. I ALSO HAVE POWER AT ONE OF THE KILL BUTTON WIRES AT THE PLUG BEFORE THE BUTTON, ANY IDEAS. I'M GOING TO SEE IF I CAN BORROW MY BUDDIES CDI. I DONT THINK THAT THE COIL IS BAD BECAUSE I CANT GET ANY POWER TO THE COIL. ANY ELEC. WIZEZ OUT THERE WITH IDEAS.

I agree, check with the 2 kill switch connectors near the head tube. They come loose some times.

THE KILL BUTTON PLUGS ARE GOOD. I HAVE NO POWER COMING OUT OF THE CDI AT THE BLACK AND YELLOW WIRE THAT GOES TO THE COIL. HOW CAN I BYPASS THE KILL BUTTON.

You can "by pass" the kill button by simply un plugging the Black with white tracer wire from the button.I agree with the others who say that spark is hard to see in the light and its kind of hard to groung the plug to something hold it and kick the machine fast enough while still trying to see the tiny spark. If you have access to another black box that is about a 30 second test.Good luck.Cheers

Use your finger. It hurts, but sometimes it's worth it. To check the spark, that is.

I know I'm not the only one to have tried this, just the only to admit to it.

He's right. As long as you don't have any electronic devices in your body. Pacemaker, defibulator, etc. I have a friend who has one and that test would not be good for him.
