G'day Guys, my name is Dinga...I am new to this Message Board...I just picked up an 03 CRF450r...Love the bike...it was an ex demo...had three hours on it after being run in and had all the initial oil changes done by the Shop...Anyway...got a killer deal on it, and am really happy, but now, after a few blasts in the paddock, and on some fire trails...I have gotta get some stuff done to make it last...

Basically I have a list of must dos at the moment, and was looking for suggestions and any help...

here is my list as it stands...

WC Radiator Braces, WC Glide Plate & Engine Guards, WC Ali Throttle Tube, Brakesnakes each side, Renthal Jimmy Button Bars, PAD and soft full waffle grips (I am 6'7" tall!!!)

I am not sure about Chain and Sprockets...was gonna go Renthal and DID but would love suggestions...

Of course prepping levers with tape, lubing cables, bedding spokes and all that, but this is my first Brand new bike, and I love it, so really wanna make it last!!!

Any feedback would be great!!! Thanks!!!

check the spokes alot, change the oil every other ride, change the airfilter every ride, grease up the linkages and steering head, and periodically check the valve clearances.

rad braces are a must, skid plate is a good idea.

This is a cosmetic one that will not do much but save marking your frame and cost you nothing.

Put some clear tape on the frame where the radiator shroud hits the frame (near your knees), it tends to rub there and cause a bit of a deep scratch.

Also lube up the steering stem and linkages.

Check the spokes before every ride!!!
As for the chain......I use the DID ERT Gold. But if you have the $$$$ then the DID ERV-2 chain is the way to go. Either chain will last about 8 months :).

Renthal sprockets are like warm butter. I would go with Ironman sprockets or some are using Titax.

Don't go Renthal sprocket. They are useless with a big bore and won't last at all. Try a Titax, Ironman, or if you have $$ Sidewinder.

Beside lubing your linkages and steering head, also lube your swingarm bearings.
