Dirtbike vs. Pitbike?

Whats the difference between a bike labeled Pitbike, and a bike labled Dirt bike? They look to be the same exept a little bit different in the dementions but not much. And their both 4 speed manual clutches. So if anyone could help me out with that, thanks.

Those are both pit bikes, and they are also both dirt bikes......Watch out tho. Those chinese bikes are nothing but something to work on. And I see your only 14 and probably don't have a ton of money so I would buy a used honda CRF50 or Kawi 110 and save your money and build it up bit by bit. That way you will have something reliable to go rip on whenever you want to. Instead of waiting around for replacement parts that break and keep falling off your chinese bike.

-Edit. Don't listen to Percision 50 either. He has his head so far up SSR's and Stagg's ass I don't know where they end and he begins....

I think the difference between those SSR's is that the "dirt bike" is intended and set up for kids while the other is set up for adults.

"Dirt bike" usually refers to any motorcycle intended for off road use which includes pitbikes, playbikes and motocross bikes. "Pitbike" usually refers to a small dirt bike with a small 4 stroke engine and an open cradle frame and small (14 inch and smaller) wheels.

Exactly most all of the chinese bikes look GREAT! The down fall is thats about it. But it's a good thing they look good cause you will be staring at it a lot when it's setting in your garage and you can't ride it!:lame:

Your going to get what you Pay for the Low end China Bikes are hit and miss

If you spend $500.00 on a China Pit bike and go out a beat the bike there a good chance you will kill it....:bonk:

Some guys dont care and have a great time doing it...

I have Raced the Northeast Pit bike scene since 2002 and Have a Couple of CRf50 Honda Based bikes with 5 different Honda motor Builds to choose from and a Bunch of China Based Bikes with Different size (cc) Motor Builds.

for 3 years I had Pitster pro backing on a factory level and for the 3 years Placed in the Top 5 in the classes I raced against CRf and KLX bikes and in 2006 Won a Stock Championship in the transworld Mx Masters of Mini series on a Complete $400.00 China CRf50 copy...?

So If I Praze and stand behind what I ride and who supports My team and the Industry....Sue me...:eek:

This season a Pro Rider and Myself Signed a deal with SSR Motorsports and SGR Racing Our Team is Moto Nutrition and have 7 Riders on the team 2 of our riders ride Fully built KLX 110's. Myself and 4 of the other rider Ride Pitster pro X4 model bikes and our pro Rider races a SGR Factory Motor in the SSR 150Tx.

And if our Teams SSR and Pitster Pro, and China bikes were Crap I know we would not be riding them for the past 4 race Seasons...

There is far more Chinese bikes at these Pit Bike event than there are Japanese Bikes Like Honda CRf50's and KLX 110's... And people are just having a blast. If you do the proper Maintance that all bikes require them a good 80% of the Issues can be avoided the other 20% are just worn out parts and Race & Riding abuse typical issues and sometimes failures...hey it happens...:eek:

but if you Listen to Guys like the one that Posted above then I guess I dont know what im Talking about when it comes to Chinese bikes or pit Bike racing for that matter....:eek:

Just My .02 cents find a bike you can afford and go out and have some fun theres plenty of them out there Good and bad and Lots of people on this site that can help you with what ever you need to get going and keep it going...:lame:

So is the Normal SR110 decent or should i spend the extra bucks for the DX-3?

Have I owned or have hands on with each Model Pit bike out there ..No If I said Yes I would be a Liar.... But I know whats decent and what is not. And I can tell you this, If you buy from a vendor from this site they will help guide you and take care of you with your Needs...

dude dont listen freeride. he is just japanese biased. i personally ride 2 crf50s and i ride 2 chinese bikes and i ride with a bunch of guys who ride ttr50s. with regular maintence the chinese runs forever. my pitster pro runs better then all the ttrs and crfs we ride with.. knock on wood mine has never broke down. we are hucking 15ft jumps and nothing happens. i wouldnt jump any of my crfs off anything that big. granted 15ft is really small i just wouldnt do it on any of my bikes.

if and when you get it loctite all the Hardware (nuts and bolts) Change the oil before start up with a non synthetic motorcycle based oil (10w-40) from a motorcycle shop

check everything after the first ride especially the spokes and bolts adjust the chain..ect ect
