Hi guys!

I rode my first competition last weekend.

When I was making a pass on a guy he ran through a big collectin of water.

The water came over me and the bike like a small wave.

A sec later the bike began to act like a cold 2-stroker, you know, baap, baap and almost died.

I pulled the clutch, just to keep it running.

This happened in the next round too.

Where can the water have comed in? Any suggestions??

A little water could have gotten past the air filter into the carb.

You could have had a minor electrical short? Not sure if this is possible?

You breather house could have sucked a water up half way then blew it out?

another possiblilty is your jetting was off and all the moisture just made the problem more exaggerated?

just a really big splash, or a WALL of water? ?

if it was just a moderate splash from the other bike, i dont think it could have gotten up into your airbox.

how long did it take befrore it came back to life?

was it instant, or did the power slowly come back?

cuz that will differenciate between water in the carb, and an electrical short somewhere.

It took about 5-8 seconds before it came to life again.

I had to get off the bike, pull the clutch and try to keep the bike running by reving up a bit.

So U can quite much say that the power came back slowly.

Where can I find the breather house? I really dont think there is any jetting issue, because the bike runs like a champ. It did some backfireing byt I fixed that by adding an xtra full turn out.

it runs out the top of the valve cover and down the left side of your frame.

in order for water to go up into it you have to be riding in standing water.

a puddle wouldn't do it.

i bet your air filter just got some moisture on it.

Sounds like my old xt350. I am pretty sure you either have a jetting problem or an electical problem. If I run the xt350 thru standing water and go slow so the motor doesnt feel like it is bogging, it comes out fine. If I run it fast, no matter the size of the puddle it will stutter and back fire until it cleans out. Then off we go to the next one. I am sure my problem is one or the other, I just havent figured out which. But I can tell you my air box is nice and dry.
