TPS and CDI Fuel Maps

Recommended Posts

I've done the searches on TPS, and read through the manual. On an 05 450F, how many different fuel maps are there specifically for throttle position?

I've read that there are 6 different maps from which one is selected based on the combined inputs of both throttle position and engine RPM. I started thinking that if hypothetically there were 3 options for each, i.e. throttle low, medium and high, and engine speed low, medium, and high, there'd be 9 different combinations. Too many, if 6 is right.

Another hypothetical guess: 2 options for throttle position (low, high) and 3 options for engine speed (low, medium, and high), which would yield 6 options.

Any info on this?

TIA, Mark

And not a fuel mapping rather it is ignition curve advance. Try this. Unplug the TPS, put the CDI in default mode. Notice much of a difference?

Yup, I misspoke re. fuel curves, should be timing modifications.

"CD in 'Default Mode'?" Unplugging will remove power to the sensor. If the input in the CDI has a "pull-up resistor" the input to the CDI will be left high, which would emulate the throttle being fully twisted open (ref. schematic). Can anyone confirm a high (5VDC) reading on the input to the CDI with the TPS sensor removed? Having typed that, I suppose it would be fairly easy to confirm: start the bike, unpug the sensor read the CDI side of the plug.

I'm not confident in my abilities to notice a mild change, only having the bike for a short time.
