Special thanks to Ron Bishop (Motorcycles) up in Escondido CA in helping get the 430 back in shape after having it sit for the last 8 months. He really knows these bikes (has owns like 4 of this style 400/430/500) so it made sense for him to work on it. No other Husky shop around me has the expertise that he does on these old gen Huskys! Glad he was there to help out and he charged me less than what I thought it might be. He also did it within 1.5 days of dropping it off. That's service!
He fixed:
-Fuel leak
-Cleaned the carb, new hoses, documented the jetting
-Fixed an oil leak (that was the biggest issue I was having with it since day two of owning it)
-Removed the gas that had drained into the bottom cases/pipe
-Repositioned the kick starter so it has a full stroke instead of a half stroke to kick it over
-While it sat, the secondary coil had gone bad he determined with no spark, so he had a used one installed
-He also stated the pipe is slightly bent upwards and hits the tank and suggested I get a new one or a replacement. Might need to grab a dynoport on this one.
She starts in one kick and just needs to be ridden!
Much appreciation to Ron for helping me out with this bike!
Can’t wait to take her on a real ride out in the dez this upcoming season….. she’s only been ridden two hours total in the last 2 years at my buddies house….so you can imagine I’m anxious to stretch her wide ratio legs some!
