..... has been revived!

Special thanks to Ron Bishop (Motorcycles) up in Escondido CA in helping get the 430 back in shape after having it sit for the last 8 months.  He really knows these bikes (has owns like 4 of this style 400/430/500) so it made sense for him to work on it.  No other Husky shop around me has the expertise that he does on these old gen Huskys!  Glad he was there to help out and he charged me less than what I thought it might be. He also did it within 1.5 days of dropping it off.  That's service!

He fixed:

-Fuel leak

-Cleaned the carb, new hoses, documented the jetting

-Fixed an oil leak (that was the biggest issue I was having with it since day two of owning it)

-Removed the gas that had drained into the bottom cases/pipe

-Repositioned the kick starter so it has a full stroke instead of a half stroke to kick it over

-While it sat, the secondary coil had gone bad he determined with no spark, so he had a used one installed

-He also stated the pipe is slightly bent upwards and hits the tank and suggested I get a new one or a replacement.  Might need to grab a dynoport on this one.

She starts in one kick and just needs to be ridden!

Much appreciation to Ron for helping me out with this bike!

Can’t wait to take her on a real ride out in the dez this upcoming season…..  she’s only been ridden two hours total in the last 2 years at my buddies house….so you can imagine I’m anxious to stretch her wide ratio legs some!

Here's some pics of it.  They're from 2 years ago, but no difference, but need to get some new ones on it...

The number alone reflects that!   And that was a pre entry back in the day in ECEA!  I remeber back in even the early 90's there were often 80 to 100 rows in a regular district  enduro.  At the last National in Pa. there was only like 60 rows and that was a national with the closed course stuff too.      Very sad.  Almost as sad as seeing so many unfortunate souls at the enduros riding those orange things.........shame on the "non believers"

Ron's been in more Baja 1000/500 races than years I've been alive I think.  I just like owning a little bit of the last true Swedish Husky heritage.... and the bike is kinda cool like that.

HuskyRips...sweet photo man.... very fitting.

Ya... Freddy Hoess overalled the run by 5 minutes over Hines and Cunningham and that was after getting lost at the end of the race for 10 minutes or so.

Oh... Freddy was on a Kawasaki, Terry Cunningham was still on a Husky and Hines was on a KTM.

Norm... I always liked IDR Nationals

Ron is a great guy and one heckuva good mechanic.  Also very honest and would never sell repairs not needed.  Very trustworthy.  He has fixed me up many times.

I also forgot to mention, whatever he did in the carb (maybe just straightening the needle since he said it wasn't straight) was amazing.  The bike runs really really smooth now and it doesn't rev down from a pull anymore.  It goes back to idle quite quickly.

I wasn't expecting the bike to run any better really after I got it back, so this was a nice surprise.

What a bike she is!

I had a 87 500xc.  6-speed two stroke.  The thing was made for Plaster City, CA.  No need for a steering stablizer for these babies, they ride on rails when your wound out going down places like coyote wash. That things is cherry, good job.  Ron helped me out back then too when I needed a new top end. Great guy.

That's awesome Fud....  I'm glad you had the chance to enjoy yours.  I really can't wait to get that bike up in 6th and see what she can do.

They are a marvel I'm sure, when it comes to a straight line.....  True Husky for you.

still love the looks of the 87-88s. stealth fighter angles, in the 80s. 430 motor was awesome. i still think, with bigger forks and a rear disc brake, it would run with anything made now.

nice lookin bike. looks new.
