First off,
My name's Jory. I'm new to these forums. I work on and restore cars for fun and ride dirt bikes when I get the chance. I've had quite a few different bikes over the past few years, but sold them all to finance cars.

When a friend offered me a 1991 CR250 for next to nothing, I couldn't pass it up. I got it running without any trouble and now have turned my focus to dressing it up a little.

Now for my original question:)
What year bikes use the same plastic as my 250? I've found a lot of conflicting info, such as that 125s and 250s use the same plastic, etc. What's true?
Also, where are the best (cheapest) places to look for plastic? (ebay, craigslist, etc)

Thanks in advance:cheers:

hey mate, thats awesome early 90's CR are great bikes!
I dont know much about pre 93 crs but if 91 are the same all the plastics up to 96 will bolt straight on. new crf style rear and fron fenders can be modded quite easily to bolt on. check out my old 96 I put modern crf fenders on it...

1990, and 1991 plastics are physically the same, 90 had "flash red" shrouds 91 had white radiator shrouds...

1992 CR250 was new body work and won't fit, with white and "nuclear red" (white tank) however 1992 CR125 plastics (including white tank) are the older style and WILL fit your 1991

now, as an added bonus if you wanted to add some extra fuel capacity to your 250, you could purchase any 1990's - 2000 CR500 tank and radiator shrouds, and they will fit (minor adjustments required but they DO fit!!)

hope this helps

Wow, I kinda forgot about this thread. I got back to working on the bike yesterday and started thinking about plastics again.

This is what I've gathered from this thread:
-All plastic from a 90-91 CR250 is the same
-92 C125 plastics also work on a 90-91 CR250
-CR500 tank and shrouds will work with minor modification
-Newer front and rear fenders will work with minor mods

Is there anything else I'm missing? Otherwise, it's off to ebay to find some deals.
I appreciate all the info, I'd be lost without it.

Ebay always has alot of great parts on there such as plastics.

Always do a generic search like "CR250" to cover everything(seems to
show alot more than just trying to find a part by year model).

Also check Onthepiperacing.com

Good Luck:ride:

Hi, did you manage to find some fork guards after?

I'm trying to find some for my 91 CR125 but apparently (unless I'm mistaken) only the 1990 and 1991 fork guards will fit?

90-91 CR250 plastics are the same.

91-92 CR125 plastics are the same.

88-89 tanks and shrouds fit just fine.

CR500 tanks will fit with no mods until well into the late 90's, but they were always behind on the 250/125 style. IE: a 1995 CR500 uses the same tank as an 89 CR250.

The 93-96 tanks will fit with the seat and rads, but you need to make a new frame mount under the tank. Not hard if you have a welder and 20 minutes.
But the rest of the 93-96 plastics won't fit, because the subframe is different, and the triples are different.

The front fender bolt pattern is pretty much the same on all CR's, early 80's through the late 90's, so just pick whatever you want.

I went through this whole thing on mine recently, trying to find what works, and what doesn't. I have a 90 CR250.
