This is my first year racing and wondered who the top guys are.
Im asking because I saw Corey Floyd won an WORCS race and started thinking how many good guys are there and do any of them do anything out side of NMA stuff?

One good thing about being in the slow class is you get to watch the fast guys ride later and I always enjoy and appreciate there skills.

Like at the Frost Bite there was a big rock wall/hill part and I made it through it not to bad. And with out getting stuck at least, by going right then up the slice in the rock. And went and watch the good guys and saw some go straight up it and jump the slice...hmm I never thought of that...then this guy come haling ass and hits this little rock way before and jumps the hole dam thing:crazy: :worthy:

So was just wondering how the step in talent was from NMA to anything else and if any of them do other races?

AA rider John Beal is the 2007 Maxxis Endurocross 4 stroke class champion. AA rider Paul Neff I believe is right up there also in addition to riding in a few IDSE's. Maria Forsberg is the 2007 WORCS women's champion.

Also of note: Senior A rider 'SJMC Don' holds the world record for most consecutive races in which a forearm has been stripped of all skin. Vet A rider 'Trailsweep' holds the record for most flameouts in a single race and subsequently most attempts at kickstarting a hot 450. I think I might hold the record for most barbed wire incidents in a 12 month period but I don't think that record is kept.

Yeah! Lets talk about the records and accomplishments that are really worhtwhile :worthy:

Seriously though, any of the AA riders are probably capable of competing with the best in just about any format... I agree, being able to watch them select lines and tackle obstacles is huge in terms of learning but at some point you begin realize that they are either naive and lucky or have humongus balls and natural ability

He also used to hold the record for the most four letter words screamed in row while pitting...I think I now have that record after Packwood...

Jee whizz, there's a long history of names and stories to go along with...

Jason Dahners was a nationally ranked AMA Hare Scrambles racer for KTM, plus numerous ISDE events.

John Beal, amazing rider and incredible healer.

Jason Raines AMA Hare Scrambles champion is from Belfair and had his beginnings in the NMA. He went from the C class to the A class when he was about 14.

Kevin Bailey nationally ranked and multi-year NMA champ

David Rhodes from long ago was nationally ranked AMA Enduro racer and was on the ISDE Trophy Team when they won (before Ricky Dietrich did recently)

Ricky Dietrick WORCS Champ and ISDE Junior Trophy Team Champ.

Brendan Ritzman WORCS racer had his beginnings in the NMA.

Paul Neff, Brandon Johnson, Corey Floyd, Jon Seehorn, etc, etc, etc.

There's some young guns up and coming, too. It has been amazing to watch them go from struggling through the deep ruts on their minis a few years ago in the 15&Under class and now they're getting ready to qualify for the AA class.

Watching the NMA races is often a blast and once you start following the riders and their progressions, it makes it even more exciting.

Then here's a pic of him with my bro-in-law moments before he broke his arm on the parade lap at the Adelanto WORCS race in 2007.

Dietrich flies. Grabbed this picture of him when he won the WORCS race at Pacific Raceways this year.

The speed him and all the pro guys carry is crazy.

Ricky is incredible, Lance Smail is not one to forget. Beal raced our rd#1 TPQ3 and was very fast, but there was a pro 2 kid that gave him a run( and won the over all) RD#2 at Straddleline Aug 2 will be great to see the factory guys as the warm up to WORCS the next weekend.

That has been a topic of much discussion. The NMA prefers to stay in the stone age.

I'm tied with you on the barbed wire fence incidents! Thanks to the barbed wire at the Desert, I still owe Trav a new jacket! :busted:

Def don't forget about Maria Forsberg. She doesn't race the NMA series, but does attend a few of the races. She was the 2006 and 2007 Womens A Worcs champion, and probably will be the 2008 Womens Pro champion. She is also the first and only female to complete the Last Man Standings. Also has competed in several endurocross events and will be attending this years 6 days on the US womens team. She is pretty much my idol! :busted: I just hope that one day I will be half as fast as she is! :applause:

I distinctly remember being lapped by ricky during that race... you get to know the AA fast guys and know when they are coming up on you and move over for them. but that race I remember well before the usual AA guys some guy out of no where goes by me on a kawi and he was so smooth it looked like he was going slow but yet he went by me and gone before I knew it.

I miss cranberry lake races :worthy:, too bad that place got shut down :bonk:

Go easy on me - my first post!

But I couldn't let this go on without mentioning David Lykke multi time NMA champ. He overalled a few AMA National Enduros a couple of years ago before retiring.

But then I just knocked my self out really bad again last weekend so might be remembering wrong:bonk:  :thumbsdn:
