How much Saki do Yamaha Engineers drink?

LOL, when I got my WR, they gave me no tools at delivery. Later I found was supposed to of gotten a plug wrench, a little biatching and it turned up in the mail. Sort of sucks the WR needle is fixed, though a JD kit quickly resloved that.

I've always wondered why the stock emissions needle is titanium. and my fancy JD needle is brass.

I've always wondered why people spend 70 bucks for a JD kit when you can get a YZ needle for 15 bucks.

I use a hemostat to get the needle out that one of my pothead brother in laws left around.

I never change sparkplugs in my Yamahas. A car can go for 80k on a set I'm sure my WR can go a few thousand on one.

JD needles are dual taper, YZ are not. For those that trail or do technical riding, the dual taper provides much better performance at lower rpms. For those fast riders, who never go below 5,000 rpm/half throttle, you are right and the JD needle will gain you nothing.

Plugs should last a long time assuming your engine is in good condition. They only need to be replaced when the electrodes loose thier sharp corners/edges. Attempting to file them square is not worth the trouble. But, if at the beginning of a season, you do a plug inspection and they appear to be loosing thier edge, replace it then Vs. mid season.

In oz on the 07 model you get the needle removal tool so you can put the supplied performance jetting and needle kit in if you are not using it on the street. You also get spark plug spanner ,spoke wrench ,spare headlight , standard electrictal switches, handguards,few other nuts bolts etc they pull off to register them.

I've had more success jetting with the JD kit, than the YZ needle. Maybe my jetting skills are poor, but the JD needles are easier for me to get my jetting right.

I've saved a lot of time using JD. If I actually knew what I was doing, then the YZ needle would have saved me a few bucks. ?

Oh, yes, the good ol' BS wrenches. At one point, I had a whole set of that stuff. I can't for the life of me recall where it went. I must have sold or traded them to expand my English and Metric automotive tool collection. That would have been a very long time ago.
