Yo,
OK I have read the NMA rules on this and wondered if anyone could explain it for us slow types.
You start on a certain minute and have to get to checks by that time but you can be early and just hang out tell your time pops up then go through?
And then the have special test where they time you. And what the hell is acceleration test for 660'? Man wish i bought a 450 and not a 250 for that.

So do they put a paper on your bike to write this stuff down or what? And do you start on a certain minute with other riders on that time too? Like lets say there is me vet C and 4 AA guys? Or do they put your class in certain times?

As as far as I can tell you never know how well or crappy you did tell they add it all up right?

Any info be great because I don't know if I need to be down the day before or just show up early that day.:excuseme:

Thanks:thumbsup:

Sounds like your grasping the concept just fine. Your concern is exactly one of the many reasons we decided to change to an ISDE format. We want people to become familiar with it and realize it is not so confusing and very easy to understand.

Relax we will not be having an acceleration test it is not required nor is it used very often.

Every one will be given a score card to tape to their front fender or number plate.

Yes you will start on a minute with other riders. If you want to ride with friends sign up with friends.

Long course will get the early minutes and short will get the late as there is only so much daylight time in a day, and it would not be right to have the amatures in the way of the experts.

Getting an early minute is not really a advantage this time of year unless the weather is very wet, or you are minute 1 A. and it is dusty. But even then an early minute can mean the course's fast lines are not evident yet and you have no clues on saving time. Remember it is you against the clock you will have no one to key off of to get a feel for speed like a Hare Scramble.

Good Luck!

Speaking of minutes...can we pre-register like for an enduro or is it first come first serve on race morning?

I have read on the flier -

Short course = 50 mile, bring a gas can for remote gas check.
Long Course = 80 mile, bring 2 gas cans for remote gas checks

So I am guessing it may be a good idea to throw a watch on the bike just so I know when I am coming close on getting to a check in time? Also what avg mph will we have to run on the sections inbetween? Different classes different speeds? I realize this isn't so much like a true time keeping enduro but you still have to get between checks in a certain amount of time. I am noob as well. Can I take notes on the time and distance between checks required? I read the rules and it just says they will be posted within at least 1 hr before the race.

Thanks!

You can run a watch but it won't be necessary if you run a good pace throughout and remember what the colored boards/flags represent....

White-checking station.
Yellow-time line
Blue- special test

All classes will have the same speed average for the first loop. The second loop which is long course only, will have a bumped up speed average.

A route sheet with the info you need to calculate when you should arrive at the checks will be handed out when you sign up.

I believe you all will all really enjoy this event. We have been working on making this happen for months. I and a few others brushed a 2 mile special test yesterday that you guys are gonna be grinnin ear to ear on when you blast through that masterpiece. Don't rule out a test up to 10 miles in length. and expect a bit of motocross.

Good Luck, but most of all have fun! :ride:

See ya there,
Roscoe

So what are the trails like?

I just got my a$$ handed to me up at Reiter attempting the Buttstomper. One humbling event a month is enough for me. Is it the typical Capital Forest trails that can be flown through and fire roads to drift around, or is it rutted, root strewn Hell?

It is not nearly as technical as Reiter but still can and will challenge you if your speed is nearing the best of your ability.
Yes there will be some gnarly stuff but also your typical Capitol forest fast forested trails.

I'm a racer and I would be stoked to get to ride this race if I was in your boots.

Hope you decide to try it.

I can't imagine the base at Straddleline being much more than 100' elev. but there are some pretty good hills and I would guess that we could get as high as 1500...?

I think the track is open for practice on Saturday 8:00 - Noon. Don't know what the story is with the trails but it is an OHV park so I guess they would be open. :excuseme:

The highest point in Capitol forest is 2,659 Ft. The trails in Capitol Forest are open. This is public land.
The trails in Straddleline will be closed as of Friday.

You may be surprised Dave. The forest has had some heavy ocean mist the last couple of days and helped the dust some. The clear cuts are still dusty however.

What are you trying to do scare people off. Trying to cut down on the competition I guess. :bonk: ;)
