Just wanted to show you all how I installed me Vapor display.

Pic 1 was to get an idea if I liked the layout

Pic 2 is with the ignition switch incorporated, much cleaner looking

Very nice! Very clean!

I am installing a Vapor today as well. I bought the dashboard, it's the last thing to install.... and I seem to have lost my OEM service manual since last night. Amazing how stuff just grows legs and hides itself.

I've gotta say, I keep at it. I like it more with out the barrell attached. I take it you didn't buy it. I sure would like one, have to think about making some thing similar.

Wow - looks great. I like it WITH the ignition. Put me in line for when you start making them for everyone. I'll take one for my "e" without the lights, thank you.

I like the second picture where you incorporate the ignition with the vapor instrument. Do you plan to leave the bracket bare or anodize it black?

Wow guy thanks for all the nice replies.

I don’t know what TT policy is on members making and selling parts.

Background:
I’m a CNC machinist/programmer. I do all my own setup and manual milling also do tig welding. I don’t work for a business that makes parts, all the stuff I usually do is R&D, I just have full access to all the machines/shop at anytime I want, so I make parts I need and want. You can check my profile and get a link to my web page to see a few other parts I make. If people are truly serious about wanting a plate I will workout the cost and get you all a price if it’s ok by TT???

I was not planning on anodizing the plate I like the look of bare aluminum.

That's a sweet looking mount you whipped up!

If you move it over to the left a wee bit, it would look really cool (as the shape of the dash would be a pretty close match for the top clamp)

Here is a version I made. Uses the Vapor warning light setup. Has the ket switch mounted level with the top of the Vapor and I black anodized it. (Sorry for the poor pictures, these were just ones I had that the Vapor was in)

Not that hard to do, just patience. FYI, it is easiest to make brackets like this if you make it out of card stock first.

No cardboard needed :naughty: :p :D
All you need are calipers

Here are a few pics of the first bracket I made
All CNC machined for best fit and finish

As you can see the mounting area looks just like stock
I could cut away more material to make it lighter but it's really strong this way and it's aluminum so it is light
Posted Image

All corners are rounded inside and out
Posted Image

Doesn't have a 90 degree bend like the stock unit.
This way you can see the display better.
Water will not sit on the screen and so on.

I have sent a PM to Bryan and will let you all know what he says.
