Oil filter change on a 99 yzf 400

Do you have to take the whole pipe off of the bike in order to get the oil filter off ???

Usually, if you loosen it you can pull it up far enough to clear the top bolt.

From what i remember on the oe front pipe you have to loosen it to change the filter. I got one off a 426 and it fit just fine and the filter cover would come right off.

So just loosen it and it should move enough to get the bolt out and slide the cover off ??? Thanks I will try that out

With my 1999 YZ400F, you need to remove the header in order to change the oil filter.

loosen header, pull up.
