Hi Everyone:
I've read all about the Primary Nut Fix and will be doing it this weekend. I ordered a new case cover gasget and have all tools ready to go. The only thing I didn't see was if anyone has any sealant recommendations when installing the new gasget. Or is it best just dry? Thanks to all for the great info on this forum. I'm loving my new (to me) 2002 DRZ400S! c good

Be sure to remove and clean any old gasket remainings, also it is a good idea to moisten the new gasket with oil, seals better, and it is easier to remove and clean the metal next time.

have fun,

j.

I do what Eddie recommends - coat both sides with a thin coat of grease - like Jiauka's idea - seals great and comes off clean so you can reuse if you need

Either oiled/greased or completely dry. In either case, be sure the mating surfaces are spotless. Naptha removes the old gasket bits with a little rubbing from a towel.

Like everyone says dry is fine. Oiled etc is fine too. I found that putting a little RTV on my finger, sticking my finger in a few places on my clean cover made getting that gasket on much easier.
