I may have stripped some threads on the rscc oil drain plug (female part). Can this be re-threaded? Anyone have a fix for this? I took the crush washer off the plug and it seams to hold Ok......
any ideas on cost/ better yet anyone have one for sale in case I need to replace the darn thing?

What plug??? the drain plug is on the bottom of the case... Are you talking about the oil galley plug below the oil filter housing?

If so,, that is not removed unless your trying to hook up an oil pressure tester for servicing or repair issues.

Not worth tiring to fix,,but not cheap to replace at $145 from ronayers.

I suppose, as long as the cover is junk anyway... I'd be tempted to fix that galley plug in place permanently.. JB weld or the like.

That plug never needed to be removed as a routine.. and if the day comes that your having a need, then consider the cover to be part of the cost of that repair.

Both left and right side are shown in that picture.. the part # I gave is the oil galley plug below the oil filter.

So, everything above stands... No need to remove it, if you can get the plug in, and "glued" in place... your done.

Well maybe. for one, the full kit to install a large threaded insert like this one would be more like $65 or so...

The case cover is cast, and there is very little material in that area.

Adding a threaded insert... means drilling the current threaded hole to an over size... that would leave VERY little material at the case are surrounding the galley plug.

1/2 a dozen of one, 6 of the other. That particular plug was not designed to be removed and installed at the user level.... so, for once, the use of JB weld of the like actually makes sense to me...

To each his own... I use a lot of threaded inserts, Timecert and helicoil.. just do not see the reason for it in this case.
