First test of 09 YZF 450 (Two Threads Merged)

Hey transworldmotocross.com has put out their first test of the 09 yam 450.

Looks positive!

I like the white, I'm pretty torn between that bike and the 09 KX450f. Tough call for me. I'd really like to not dink with jetting all the time, and the Kawi looks sweet, but I love my 04 yz450 f, so this is spinning my head. I'm wondering if yamaha has a major change in store for next year. I'm hoping for direct injection, but who knows. Maybe I ride Kawi for a year. Undecided.

I wish he would have made specific mention of the rear suspension. He had such good things to say about the '08 that it makes me want to buy one of those instead.

dude you need to get an 06 or newer YZ! my buddy had an 04 and i had an 06...trust me when i say its like comparing silk to sandpaper...(i wouldnt mess with the Kaw, if you want FI go with the RMZ)

yea but the 03-05 sure are fun still.....?

Yamaha will be the most refined, the best edition yet for their line of 450s........test is positive that it will turn, has great handling plenty of power, need more get a pipe. It is a complete package w/o all the EFI wiz bang costly #$%@ when it breaks.....hmmmmmmmm

Although the packing doesn't last long (and neither did the pipe itself), it does use packing and can be repacked.

Pretty sure he was referring to the '08 as he was commenting on someones post. Either way, I'm pretty sure YOU knew I was referring to the '08 ?

To be clear... You CAN repack the '08 silencer, however, it still sucks regardless. I have no idea about the '09. How's that? ?

In that context, your response seemed something of a non sequitur, no? Just having fun.

In any case, MXA's only comment on it that I've seen so far is to cut/paste info from Yamaha's site:

They said more about the '09 YZ250F exhaust:

The 2009 Yamaha YZ250F muffler is several inches shorter. It,reportedly, does not have Yamaha’s dualcone internal baffling.

The comment regarding low end power leads me to think it might not have the baffling, but it may have a very small muffler core diameter.

Ha ha, you must think I live in the stone age, because I like my '99 400f.?

However, if/when I sell my YZ400F (trying to now), I will probably search for a nice low-hour '06 model.

I love my 08 yz, I loved my 06 Yz. I just put my deposit on an 09 KXF 450. Should have it next month. I saw the release information at my shop. All dealers get 1 standard model in August......1 Monster Energy model in sept. or october and the rest will be released in december. I'm going to keep the YZ also. I had a chance to race an 08 KXF 450. Sweet bike. Fuel injection should'nt scare anyone. I see many more carb related issues than Fuel injection issues with bikes these days. Besides, Kawi has already had fuel injection for a year on a KX 450 motor.....Its in there Quad........And those things run sweet.
