Ok, kind of new to the forum. I've used it a lot for searching tech stuff and it's a great resource, but the one thing I can't seem to find on here is info on after market seats.

I KNOW dirt bikes aren't supposed to have "comfortable" seats, but I have an 03 450 and it's like getting ass rammed by chunk of granite. I've sucked up the bruises and the odd ambling walk afterwords, and decided I want to try and fix the damn thing haha.

A buddy of mine has a late 90's CR500R and it's got such a nice soft seat. Comparably at least.

Anyone got a line on a better seat to put on it?

Not sure you are going to be able to buy a more comfortable seat. Most of the aftermarket options tend to be on the stiff side. You could always just a softer layer of foam under your seat cover.

Guts racing makes softer seat foam, that plus some 661 padded pant liners - (you might even give depends a try - they'll work as dual purpose for when you case those tripples).

i hear good things about the guts. I took mine to a friend of mine who does auto upholstery and he inserted some soft foam and took out some hard foam and it was much better.

Dont buy an SDG seat. I just bought a SDG step seat and it is SO freaking hard. It's like riding on a 2x6 plus it dosent even fit right. I heard Guts is a good seat too. Im thinking about changing back to my OEM seat. Way softer!

My wife had the same issue. The stock seat was too stiff and too tall for her. I solved the problem by taking it to an auto-upholstry shop and I had them install some memory foam material. Its as soft as my bed. I think they charged me $70 something dollars, but it was worth it.

You know what....I tried the Depends but found that all my riding buddies laughed so hard they could barely stand up. Then I realized that I was supposed to put the Depends under the gear. Oh well...live and learn.
