Also, a lighter flywheel will get everything moving faster.

The EC300 definately has a top end so it sounds like you may not be jetted correctly or something not quit right. I have two 05 EC300's and a 02 EC200 and all three bikes have plenty of low end (especially the 300's) and rip on the top end. The are the fastest bikes I have ever owned. I have FMF gnarly pipes on my bikes so I am not sure what exhaust you have but you may want to call a company called "Go Fasters "and ask for Steve he can probably steer you in the right direction. Good luck!

Oh it is fine now. It runs awesome all the way through with a nice top end. I guess the original poster of this thread figured it out.

Have you ever ridden the event? Any idea how tough it is? It used to be known as the world's toughest race but I think that was before the eco's could shut it down and it was actually 200 miles. I want to say it is closer to 80 now. I'll try to contact some of the people listed on the site.
Thanks for the link!

Thanks for the insight.
I received an email from an organizer and day 1 is 100 miles through the rain forest. If it is 100 miles of tough riding that is one thing. If it reaches the point of lifting bikes over logs, repeatedly, then I don't think I'd have much fun. We have some pretty tight trails in the PNW but not quite like Hawaii.
I have never ridden this event but have thought about it for years. I have already hijacked this thread enough so I'll close by saying I really want to do this in 2012 and am looking at the cost of sending my bike over and will make my mind up in the next several days. I know I'd have a great time but as a recreational rider, 100 miles on Saturday may do me in. My record is 130 miles in one day but a lot of that was fire roads. I'll check out more of the vids and pics.

If you go you wont be sorry... It's not like the logs are constant or anything. ..just in some areas crossing the road. It might be in some vids . I wouldn't say it's that bad from what my friends including those living on the big island tell me. As far as the hijack.. I don't think anyone really cares. This is an old thread and I think everyone knows a gasgas 300 is an awesome bike that has great low end mid range and top end. It does even if anyone out there doesn't know
