I know that Service Honda made a CR500 up untill at least 2007. Is there an '08? The last year for honda two strokes was 2007. But is Service Honda different? Is the mighty CR500 still around for 2008?

You're talking about 2 different things...I think. Service Honda builds a CR500AF....a crf450 frame with a new 500 motor in it. The last year for a factory 500 from Honda was 2001. Service Honda makes a special construction bike, not a factory Honda. They still make them, and I'm sure they will continue to make them as long as new 500 motors are availible. Going rate is 10k.

I'm talking about regular honda, not the factory race bikes.
I'm also talking about Service Honda, which makes specialty bikes like the CR500, CRF250R/X junior, and i think they also make the KX500.

Service Honda uses "AF" model designation "aluminum frame"
"CR500AF and KX500AF" The" CR500AF" is currently in a "CRF250" chassis and the "KX500AF" is in a" KXF450" chassis

Your post is confusing with out the "AF"

So I'm confused? How does asking if service Honda still makes the cr 500 confuse you? Do they make one in general is my question. Not with a specific frame or anything.

Service honda 500's are not "regular Hondas" They are crf 250r chassis with a 2001 cr 500 motor in it. There is nothing "regular" about it. Since they have been using the 2001 motor for years now and honda still produces parts for it specifically for service hondas intentions, I'm sure they will be around for a long time. As long as they keep selling bikes anyway. There is an article in the new MXA that talks about them, supposedly they produce 150 cr500AF bikes a year.

The last year for the CR500R was 2001. However since before that time, Service Honda have been building CR500R engines from new parts and inserting them into a variety of OEM aluminum frames from Honda. The current CR500AF and AFX are based on the 2008 CRF250R and CRF250X frames respectively. So not dead at all depending on your viewpoint....

Im also wondering if the cr500af is green sticker? I read in an old issue of dirt rider that a 2006 is green sticker.

My understanding is that the sticker keys of the VIN # of the original frame so if it is based on a CRF250X you can get a green sticker, if it is based on a CRF250R then it'll be a red sticker. But I am soon to find out!

The CR500AFX is California Green sticker legal, because the bike is built in a CRF250X frame, which is green sticker legal
