trdrally,

have you got a write up or some reference material for what you needed to do to fit drz400 forks? I'm interested in this mod as well

it is a basic bolt on
you will need  the wheel, axle, spacers ect.
they both use the same head bearings

i am thinking of selling or trading my dr400 stuff and going back to drz250

The Acerbis front disc guard for the XR250R will fit on the DRZ250.  I got a Topar aluminum rear disc guard made for the DRZ400 to fit on my wifes DRZ250.  It's a great looking part, built very substantially, and mounts very securely.  I'm not certain, but I think Devol makes one as well.  I've checked and found that the 3.8 gallon tank made by Clarke for the XR400R, and late model XR250R's will fit on the DRZ250, however the forward mounts will have to be fabricated to secure it.  Considering that you can get over 100 miles out of the stock tank, that unless you are going to remote areas without any access to fuel, it may not be worth the expense and effort.
On a different note, has anybody found a really loud horn that can be mounted on the DRZ without taxing the electrical system?
I've also used the same fork seals that fit my XR400 on my wife's DRZ250 as they are exactly the same size.  And just so you know, the same fork seals that Race Tech sells for these bikes are exactly the same as the Tusk seals from Rocky Mountain.  Race Tech does charge about $20 more, but for that extra money they give you a RT sticker.

the drz250 has the same charging system as the ds version sold all over the world so a hella 120db air horn is out there

i have a basic horn on both my tagged drz250s
the limit is about 120 watts total draw less with out the battery

the big tank mounts are pretty ez to fab
i have the 5.8g tank on one and thinking the 4g is the way for the other

anu one have a lead on a fork brace?

thank you for information

On a similar note, does anyone know if it is possible to put a 400 or 450 engine in a DRZ250?  My engine has had it and I'm looking at my options...

WER Steering damper for a DR-z400 fits right on. Also the headlight and shroud are the same for 250, 400 & 650.

The GPR steering stabilizer setup for the DRZ400 will bolt right up to the DRZ250.  So, most likely most other brands will as well.  The steering head bearings for the 250 and 400 are the same.  If you need to replace your fork seals, the seals (both oil and dust) for the Honda XR400R are the same size.  The Honda OEM seals last longer and are cheaper.  And for those of you looking for a fork brace, the SuperBrace for the XR400R will fit right up.  One other item, the foot pegs on the DRZ250 could stand to be a little more substancial, but it seems that nobody makes them aftermarketwise.  However, IMS offers their Pro Series pegs for the DR650 which bolt right up.  If you look at the OEM parts diagrams, you'll see that the 250 and 650 share the same pegs.  I'm not sure, but there may be other aftermarket manufacturers who also offer pegs for the 650 as well.  Utah Sports Cycle has a 250 4stroke pipe guard which fits quite well to protect the low hanging header on the DRZ250.  This has always been an area of concern for me as it looks quite vulnerable to rock hits.  I put one on our 250 and it works and looks quite nice.

Does anybody know of an aftermarket shift lever that fits the DRZ250?  The lever for the DRZ 400 and RMZ 250 look to be similar bends but does anyone out there have any ideas?

While they're not identical, the shaft and splines are similar on most of the Japanese bikes. I've got a 85? ZX550 shifter on my Yamaha. I'd imagine that Suzuki used the same shaft spline pattern on all their bikes, if you can pick it up cheap, try one.

the shock from a dr250/350 will bolt on, its not an upgrade for the drz but it is for the dr
the spring is the same just a bit stiffer
the kickers are the same
the forks will change over from dr to drz there again the drz part is an upgrade for the dr
the pegs are the same as is the rear wheel non cush drive

im told the dr650 fork springs will change over:ride:
