How many hours do you have on your bike??

Recommended Posts

And what have you had to fix or replace so far?? and at what hour did you? and were they hard mx hours or light trail riding hours for example (or light mx, hard trail etc etc).

just curious. looking to buy an 06 450f and i'm trying to get an average base point by which to judge used bikes im seeing in classifieds.

EDIT: sorry, forgot to say, please include the year your bike is!

20 hrs on my 07 YZ450F and the only thing I'm replacing is the driveline (chain and both sprockets) if it ever quits snowing!!!!

I've made a few reliability mods and a couple of crash repairs, but that's it.

Oh yeah, valves haven't moved since day 1.

I ride light MX as well as the odd trailride.

505 hrs, '00 426, clutch basket, 1 piston, strg head brgs, and normal maint. tires, oil V-Twin 20-50 mobil 1, valve adj. original valves. best bike I've ever owned.

.5 hrs, '06 450, nothing

112 hrs, '00 TTR 125, everything possible, Frame broken, hubs Broken, bent strg stem triple clamp, engine case broken, because chain came off, no decent chain guide, or case protection, I had an SL 100 Honda when I was 16 that held up much better than this supposed hot play bike. All the parts were broken by a 85# 11 yr old.

114 hrs, SMR510 Husky, water pump O-ring, maint. great dependable motor and fast. most fun street bike I've owned.

168 hrs, '03 YZF 250, nothing but broken levers, bent bars and maint., my son's bike. always 20-50 Mobil 1.

Are you using synthetic mobil 1, how often do you change it.

06 YZ450F, about 6 hours, maybe, maybe less. The chain seems to be going away really quickly. I've never had to replace a chain on a new bike in that time frame before. Other than that, nothing, still starts first kick after a rejet, and hauls banana's. I still like it, though.

I have two YZ450F's. One mine and one for my son. We have lots and lots and lots and lots of hours on our bikes.

Going on over two years with no valve adjustments. Lots of oil changes and filter changes. Both on original spark plugs. Several tires and chains. Lots of fuel. I would hate to put an hour meter or an odometer on the bikes.

Also both still on orginal pistons. : )

10 hours trail riding YZ450F 08:

- original chain lasted 8 hours - gone replaced by o ring

- left fork leaked so gone are the seals - for 04 versions (still looking suspiciously similar to 08 ones)

- changed engine oil 3 times

- valves are still ok

- original rear tyre is gone... front is still tolerable but is going to go next week for a softer version as the rains are starting to damage the forest trails...

- plastic is starting to take the damage - will last another 10 hours maybe (as vegetation is getting thicker and more evil ? I mean it will hold on but will go for esthetical reasons... ( I always wanted to try on that yellow set anyway :ride: with my red bling anodized staff already in place it will look as Big Mac bike  haha

Am I neglecting smth?

`02 YZ426, maybe 100hours. No problems here (other than normal wear and tear). I run RedLine synthetic 30wt race oil. I change the oil every other ride, and change the filter every other oil change. I need to check my valves (little boggy in the low end) but I dont think they are too bad. I've ripped apart the carb a few times, for the past 3-4 years now ? , the beast has only come out and play about once or twice a year now, so she gets clogged with bad gas over time. Oh and I had an oil seal leek a few years ago. I did the business-card trick on it, and it's been fine since.

I have a 2006 450F. 50 hours, almost all track time. Put a new chain on when new, replaced fork seals at 30 hours. After rejetting, runs perfect. Valves have not budged since new. I use Mobil 1 MX-4T racing oil. Frequent oil and air filter changes keep it running like new.

BlingBling, I use the syn 20-50 Mobil 1 V-Twin oil, I don't ride below 50 degrees, and always warm up the motor. Have never gone over 7 hrs on an oil change, so I have a timesert in the oil plug threads, oil changed so often the threads gave up at around 150 hrs.

As far as fork seals My '00 426 had a set after the first year and then I installed Seal Savers, and it has not had a seal in over 400 hrs. Put Seal Savers on my '03 250 when new, and I never put seals in it. Also put them on my '06 450, hope I'll never need seals there either.

I have a 2006 yz450f thats been ridden almost every weekend. I estimate about 250 hrs on it. I have done NOTHING to the motor. All basic maintenance using Rotella T oil changes every 2 weekends. Air filter every ride. It still starts like an 80. Sometimes im getting it to TDC and it fires up on me.

replaced parts

spark plug

steering stem bearings

chain and sprockets

front brake pads

fork seals

tires

proper jetting

AP mod

magnetic drain plug

Engine Ice

thats about it really.
