YZ Fork on 07 WR 450

Well i have yz250f -06 forks on my wr450-07, works alot better than stock!

They Are one of the best improvements you can do to a WR! Don't make the mistake like I did and, buy a pair of 08 YZ forks. Nothing lines up on the 08 forks... The 07 and previous years work great! All the bolts and, nuts line up..? BRAP

i am riding with 06yz450f forks on my 07wr450f. it works great. i heard 07 or 08 yz forks need master cylinder, caliper and protectors. 06 is easier to put on.

07YZ forks on a 07WR, dream bike. Island Boy told me to look on e-bay (rbn14 found them for me) and for 300.00 bucks and a revalve from the boys at Factory Connection. I now have a YZ suspension on a WR. Big thanks Island Boy. ? Jeff S

Hey Jeff - first off, I'm glad you didn't bust your grape at Salt Wells a couple of wks ago - pretty gnarly course for sure. I'm wondering what it is about the WR forks that is so bad / what it is about the YZ forks that is such an improvement? I'm not mad fast like you and your bro and am new to desert racing, so maybe I just don't know the difference / don't need the upgrade (I'm a 165lb rider)?? Just curious. Well Mark I came off my YZ 250 so, all I have ever known is YZ forks! I used my brothers hopped up WR forks for the race and, they are way too soft for me. I weigh 175, and I think they are set for a 200 lb rider. My problem is I kept bottoming the bike out the whole race. Yz forks are set up to be ridden more aggressive and, they suck up the whoops like no tomorrow!?

Makes sense to me and I've felt that a few times now that you mention it - just figured it was standard play. Does the speedo cable / axle stuff align ok on the 07 YZ forks or is modificication required to run the odometer? Thanks for the info, Josh.

Dude if you can get a pair for 300$ it would be the best money that, you have spent in a while! Like I said before everything lines up perfect on the 07 forks, odo, fork guards, axle, brake caliper..Its all good..Its like Yamaha designed them to work together! Then they changed it all up for 08:crazy: trust me don't try it!?

Hey Mark, thanks I'm glad I didn't bust my thin grape either. I just picked up a new Leatt neck brace yesterday, I'm glad I had one on. It broke straight across the back, but I'm sure it saved me to race another day.

I really liked the WR forks for tech woods riding but when it came to racing in the desert no matter what I did, I could not get those forks to work well enough to trust them at high speeds. I'm 195 pounds and even with proper springs and the local shops revalve, I still bottomed out. Increase the compression until it was stiff and then it just felt like crap through the whole stroke. I do have a friend that is 165 pounds and rides in the expert class. He had his WR forks revalved by Factory Connection and is happy w/the results. The new twin chamber SS forks are amazing, one or two clicks and I can feel the change. The thing that I really like is that the forks feel great in the woods when I soften them up and then a couple clicks and they are great in the desert. I guess the only problem was that I trusted them to much at 50 mph when I hit that wash at salt wells and then did a Superman dirt nap. Jeff S

I have a quick question, I am thinking of tarding out my yzf 426, would changing to the wr forks do any good for street riding and possibly some motard track days?

I am only 155lbs soaking wet, and my forks feel way too soft. I have only ridden my '08wr450f a few times, but already I think I see a revalve in the near future. I will play around with the clickers a little now that I have it broke in, but not sure that will help enough. I race desert in Utah and the large woops and chop eat the soft wr suspension.

whatcha talken about willis??? biggest and best mod you could do to any bike is give it a suspension. Jeff S
