Hey guys, long story short, I had to renew my insurance for my "L" through Rider insurance company - JUST liability - no full coverage. Came out to $271 for the year. Doesn't this sound high? Seems like not long ago I was paying about $100 for the year:excuseme:

I'll second that. Full coverage with a $250 deductable through Geico cost less than what they charged you. Sounds like you might need to shop around a bit, then get a refund on the balance of your current policy.

I'm paying about $120/yr for liability only and it covers 3 bikes. My XR is about $55 of that total.

The big varaible is how long you have been riding. For your first year or two expect to pay at least 5 times more.

Shop around. The rates vary a lot. I have Progressive.

I used to own an XL600V in Idaho. It was $90 for liability and 9 months out of the year (I was 27 or 28 and had 11 points on my licence).

I just purchased insurance for my 2004 Honda CRF250 from AIG for 70 bucks with the coverages listed below. The only thing that worries me a little is that they sent me a "package" in the mail describing thier coverage and there is wording in there that states that they do not cover any damage that occurs as a result of racing, stunting, or even during the preperation for a racing event.....This documentation is very generic and applies to everthing they cover such as cars, trucks, or whatever. I have not contacted them yet to get clarification and to ask why they would insure a racing motorcycle but then tell me it isnt covered during a race.

Bodily Injury $25K per person/$50K per accident
Property Damage $25K
Comprehensive deductible $100
Collision deductible $100

im like $100 for liability only, but i have all my house, all cars, and bikes all thru AAA so im not sure if it went down but if not i dont care. About $500 or so for the BRP and my CBR600RR with full coverage for two bikes so thats cheap in my mind, plus the CBR has only a $100 deductable.

I pay $22/year for the "L" and $14/year for my XR400. I also pay $16/year for plate tags. I would not lie to a Bibleman.

That sound about right. GEICO, bare minimum coverage...just enough to be legal...No Uninsured motorist...nothing but "must have"...$28

Uninsured/Underinsured coverage is what can drive the price up above $50. some state require it, some dont. When I was in the military I got alot of experience with different states and insurance requirements. SC and Cali suck!!!! Mid west states, KS(cheapest) , OK, TX, OH, not so bad. I hear NY is TERRIBLE.

After my 650R was stolen and recovered, I put insurance on it with a 250 Deductible from Progressive. It costs me $460/year, I also insured the upgrades that have been made, which brings the value to $10,000. I am only 23 years old though. I think I hold the record for highest premium, lol

The price I got was through Rider. My wife called and just told them I wanted to renew and I guess they gave me the max coverage (but still no collision). She called again today to get the minimum coverage and it's still 127 bucks for the year. Here in NJ part of what you have to have on your policy is something called PIP (still don't know what it is) and uninsured motorist coverage so if I hit an illegal while he's crossing the street on his bicycle I guess he gets something too. Ridiculous.
