Should the mainshaft have a play of a couple of millimeters?

The mainshaft of my honda has a play of about 1 millimeter in and out.

(Hope that mainshaft is where the chain-sprocket is attached?)

Is this normal or will it cost me a fortune to fix?

Thats the countershaft. That is pretty much normal to have a little "thrust" clearance.
