NEW XR650L Question

Recommended Posts

Oh, I got the tools to make a kit...I want the kit I paid for...I got spare tires, hoses, carbs, oil, etc. lying around too. But they didn't get off for those and they aint getting off for the tools either. The kit is $57 of the price I paid for the pig. And I by God want it. Even if I sell it on the Ebay...IS MINE!

I got ahold of the dealer...One's inthe mail. He was much more interested in talking about the tool kit rather than the butt chewin' I was dealin over the Cali model bike he sold me in Oklahoma.:prof:

plain and simple explanation: the ******** at the dealerships steal them and either give them to their boys for spares, or they sell them on ebay. i have owned 2 GSXR 1000's and both came with the back seat AND the seat cowl. a lot of guys would buy 600's, 750's, and 1000's and only get the seat. some dealers would even try to SELL these guys the cowl as if it was extra. stuff like this goes on all the time. sorry if anyone on here works for a dealer and takes offense. all i can say is that if you don't steal, you shouldn't be offended. i have friends that work at the "stealerships" and they all support my claims.

That sucks, so that's what happened to my tool kit.

Mine did not have the tool kit and I noted it on the predelivery paperwork at the dealership. After two trips back to the dealership, they took one from a used '08. I tried to use the spark plug wrench the other day when I was checking out the engine vibration issue, only to find it was not the right one. I guess I need to get with Honda, too.

more than likely, bro. maybe someone can refute it, but why would some bikes get it and others not? also, why would the manual talk about it and then not provide it. not to mention, like i said, i have some friends that work at dealers that have told me it goes on. that seat cowl for the gsxr 1000's is a couple hundred bucks and it was the managers and owners that were in on that scam. sad but true. and joe here got a tool kit, but it was the wrong one, and how about the guy that bought that used '08? i'm sure he is going through this same aggravation.

when i was a kid, the tool kit was the first thing that we got rid of on our bikes to lighten them up and not have to listen to the rattle. there was always one dork in the crowd that kept his in his bike. of course, he was the hero when someone needed something! with all the guys on here that ride trails, it is not a bad idea to have one. the plug wrench is priceless, and those little wrenches are perfect in tight spots where some normal wrenches wont fit. get your tool kits guys!!!!

easy there buckaroo! before you start throwing out accusations it's a good idea to do a little checking.

plain and simple explanation: 650l came with tool kits from 1993-2000. after that it gets kind of sketchy.2001-04 did not. the 05-06 models did, and the they quit again for 07-08. not sure why. Honda rarely calls me for advice.

i have worked in the bike biz for 30 years now, and i take my personal integrity pretty seriously.please do the same.

My thoughts are don't waste your time trying to get that tool kit. Nothing but Japanese junk anywho. Those "factory" tools have always been a good sourse of laughter at a bench racing session. I didn't get one with mine and don't think I would of taken one if I had a choice. I even had to attach the speedo cable when I got home, air up the tires (10 lbs. don't cut it), and properly tighten the battery cables. I guess good help is hard to find. (same with tools). OGB
